it's early August and Morning Glories are blooming along the trails in Fort Macon State Park. Butterflies, bees and humming birds dart from bloom to bloom. The violet blossoms add a splash of color to the lush green foliage growing along the sandy paths.,

Locasted on a barrier island named Bogue Banks Fort Macon was the first state park to open in Nroth Carolina and continues to be one of the most popular state recreation areas in NC. One of the many attractions on the Crystal Coast the park offers hiking, swimming, and fishing as well as featuring a Civil War era port and a visitors center with a nice museum.
