Tricolored Heron Portrait

Here is a portrait of a Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor), taken in Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. These medium sized members of the egret family can be quite lovely to observe. I spied this bird while hiking the Elliot Coues Nature trail. I was pleased that it was so cooperative with me.
