Broken in New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park

A broken tree is being reclaimed by ground foliage in the forest. This color image was taken along one of the trails in the New Bern Civil War Battlefield Park. Several walking paths lead visitors through the woods to various locations used by soldiers fighting this battle during the war between the states. The park includes over 30 acres of the battlefield in Craven County, North Carolina. An estimated 1080 casualties were had during this 6 hour battle on March 13, 1862.
