Sunset Along Hoop Pole Creek - Atlantic Beach North Carolina

The Hoop Pole Creek Nature Preserve conserves a small section of Maritime Forest in the island community of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The property, once targeted by land developers for a housing project, was acquired by the NC Coastal Federation. The trail head for this lovely, naturaly area is found in the parking lot of the Atlantic Station shopping center. One is transported from a busy, urban area to a serene natural area in the matter of a few short steps down the trail.

The maritime forestis quite thick making it difficult to capture some scenes with camera. An 8mm fisheye lens it used to capture this scene. While I had tried to photograph this spot before it seemed an impossible quest due to the density of the forest in the area. I was thrilled to finally be able to capture the beauty of this scene on a lovely April evening.
