Wild Oxeye Daisy Along a NC Road

Description

The Oxeye Daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare, is native to Europe and western Asia. It is naturalized in many North American areas and considered an invasive species in many locations. In the springtime this lovely flower can be found blooming along rural roads in eastern North Carolina. The bloom consists of white petals that surround a center of yellow florets.

This image was made along a country road next to the Croatan National Forest in Craven county, North Carolina. Even though it is not a native plant and is considered a weed by some, others love these flowers.
